Short version: Aura doesn’t track you.

In the app

  • No analytics, no telemetry, no crash reporting services.
  • Album art, track titles and colors are processed on your Mac and never leave it.
  • Aura asks for Automation access to Music and Spotify if the standard Now Playing source stops working, or when you open Home while one of them is playing, to show and set its volume.
  • Clicking what’s playing in a browser asks once for Automation access to that browser, so Aura can bring the right tab to the front. It only reads tab titles to find it.
  • React to the beat and the island’s “Visualizer follows the sound” (both off by default) listen to the sound your Mac is playing, only while music plays. The audio is analyzed in memory to find the beat and is never recorded, stored or sent anywhere. macOS asks once for permission.
  • Show on lock screen (off by default) sets your desktop picture to Aura’s wallpaper so the lock screen matches, and puts your own picture back when you turn it off or quit Aura. The pictures are saved only on your Mac.
  • Send Feedback… opens an email in your mail app with your Aura version, macOS version, Mac model and which modules are on. You see all of it and nothing is sent until you press Send.

What goes over the network

  • License activation and a check at most once a day: your license key, an activation ID, your Mac’s model identifier (for example “Mac16,8”) and a random install ID. Sent to Polar, our payment provider.
  • Update checks: Aura downloads the update feed from this website. No system profile is sent.

Purchases

  • Payments are handled by Polar as the merchant of record. Your payment details go to Polar and its card processor, never to us.
  • We see the email address and country you enter at checkout, to send your license and handle support.

This website

  • No cookies, no analytics and no third-party trackers.
  • Our host keeps standard server logs to run the site securely.
