Changelog
Aura is in final testing. These are the builds leading up to the first public release.
0.26.0 — October 28, 2026
- Eight animated wallpapers, built in. Aurora, Lava, Nebula, Tide, Bokeh, Silk, Dunes and Prism — smooth, seamless loops made for Aura, ready in Wallpapers and the menu. With Sync colors on, the song’s colors wash over them. Part of Aura Pro.
0.25.2 — October 28, 2026
- Lighter visualizer. The island’s live visualizer now uses about 1% CPU, and together with React to the beat about 2.5% — three times less than before.
0.25.1 — October 28, 2026
- Four times lighter. The wallpaper gradient is now drawn without the graphics pipeline that SwiftUI spins up for it. Aura starts with about 23 MB of memory instead of 80, and no longer briefly spikes past 300 MB when it launches. It looks the same.
0.25.0 — October 28, 2026
- A visualizer that really follows the music. Turn on “Visualizer follows the sound” in Island settings and the bars next to the cover move with the bass, mids and highs of whatever is playing. It listens only while music plays and never records anything. Off by default.
- Easier first launch. The disk image and the download page show how to get past the one-time macOS warning, and the welcome tour explains which macOS questions to allow and why.
0.24.0 — October 27, 2026
- Clear Liquid Glass. The island’s glass is now truly see-through — you see what’s behind it, with light bending at the edges, instead of a blur. Pick the look in Vibes: Clear, Smoky, Frosted or Dark.
- Glass on the lock screen too. The same switch in Vibes turns the lock screen’s playback panel into Liquid Glass.
- Bigger cover on the lock screen, with a slimmer panel underneath.
0.23.0 — October 27, 2026
- Low battery, the way macOS shows it — in the island. A Mac icon on one side, a ring with the percentage on the other. It now also appears at 5% and whenever macOS itself warns that the battery is low.
- The island leaves full-screen apps alone on external displays. It no longer pops up over the address bar of a full-screen browser after you switch desktops or reveal the menu bar.
- No more holes on the lock screen. With several desktops, the lock screen could show bits of your old wallpaper around the clock and the password field. Aura now keeps every desktop in sync.
- Test builds now get updates on their own beta channel.
0.22.0 — October 27, 2026
- Liquid Glass, just for the island. Aura’s window is back to its clean look, and Liquid Glass now lives only on the island — real macOS glass that stays clear and bends what’s behind it at the edges, instead of a flat blur. Turn it on in Island settings (macOS 26 Tahoe). With the Tinted style, the glass takes the color of your music. If you had the old Vibes switch on, the island keeps its glass.
- The island stays out of the way on external displays. On screens without a notch it now sits inside the menu bar, hides whenever the menu bar does — in full-screen apps or with an auto-hiding menu bar — and opens only after you rest the pointer on it for a moment. Don’t want it there at all? Turn off “Show on displays without a notch” in Island settings.
0.21.0 — October 27, 2026
- Now Playing on the lock screen. Turn on Lock Screen on Home and, when you lock your Mac with music playing, you get a big album cover with a glass panel underneath — title, artist, progress and playback buttons that work without unlocking. Off by default.
- Your wallpaper on the lock screen. Turn on Show on lock screen in Wallpapers and the lock screen shows the same living wallpaper as your desktop — its colors follow the song, it moves with the beat and plays your video loop, while the clock and password field stay clear. Aura sets your desktop picture to match and puts your own picture back when you turn it off or quit. Off by default.
0.20.1 — October 27, 2026
- Slimmer device notices. When headphones or speakers connect, the island no longer drops down — it just shows the device icon on the left of the notch and its name on the right. Low battery shows the percentage the same way.
0.20.0 — October 27, 2026
- React to the beat. Turn it on in Wallpapers and the gradient brightens and pumps with the bass of whatever is playing — Spotify, YouTube, anything. It only listens while music plays and the wallpaper is visible, analyzes the sound on your Mac and never records it. macOS asks once for permission. Uses about 1–2% CPU.
0.19.3 — October 26, 2026
- Open Aura really opens on top. Choosing Open Aura from the menu bar icon no longer leaves the window behind other apps, even right after Aura starts.
0.19.2 — October 26, 2026
- Aura’s window comes to the front. Opening Aura from the menu bar, the Dock, Finder or Spotlight now brings its window on top of other apps more reliably, including when the window was already open behind them.
0.19.1 — October 26, 2026
- Links in About are icons now. GitHub and the website sit next to Discord and TikTok, which light up once those channels open.
0.19.0 — October 26, 2026
- Device and battery notices in the island. When headphones, AirPods or speakers connect or disconnect, the island briefly shows which one. When your Mac’s battery drops to 20% and 10%, it shows that too. Turn it off in Island settings. macOS still shows its own notices as well.
0.18.0 — October 26, 2026
- Liquid Glass switch. Turn on Liquid Glass in Vibes to make Aura’s window and the island see-through glass, on top of whichever vibe you use. Requires macOS 26 Tahoe; off by default.
0.17.0 — October 26, 2026
- Liquid Glass on macOS 26. Cards, vibe tiles, the mini player, onboarding and the island’s playback buttons now use Liquid Glass on macOS Tahoe. On macOS 15 Aura keeps its current look. The island itself stays pure black so it still blends into the notch, and it still uses no CPU at rest.
0.16.0 — October 26, 2026
- Player volume on Home. When Music or Spotify is playing, Home shows a volume slider for that app — not the whole Mac. It picks up changes you make in the player whenever the song changes or you open Home.
0.15.0 — October 26, 2026
- Vibes that follow the clock. Turn on “Change vibe by time of day” in Vibes and pick a vibe for each part of the day — say Sunset from 6:00 and Midnight from 18:00. Aura switches on time, even after sleep. Picking a vibe by hand pauses the schedule until the next change.
0.14.0 — October 25, 2026
- New pricing: monthly or for life. Aura Pro is now $2 a month or $18 once (1.79 € / 16 €, 7.99 zł / 69 zł). If you already bought Pro, nothing changes — it’s yours for life.
- Clear status when a subscription ends. If a monthly subscription runs out, Aura says so in Settings and goes back to Free until you renew.
0.13.0 — October 25, 2026
- Island color presets. Pick the island’s accent in one click from ten ready-made colors — or keep it following the album art. Custom colors still work, and the same presets are there when you create a vibe.
0.12.0 — October 25, 2026
- Skip 10 seconds in podcasts and videos. When a podcast, YouTube or another video is playing, the previous and next buttons in the island and on Home become 10‑second back and forward. Music keeps the usual track buttons.
0.11.0 — October 25, 2026
- Scrub through a song. Drag the progress bar in the island or on Home to jump to any moment. The time follows your finger while you drag, and the song skips when you let go.
0.10.1 — October 25, 2026
- Clickable looks clickable. The pointer turns into a hand over the album art and the title, so you can tell they open what’s playing.
0.10.0 — October 25, 2026
- Jump to what’s playing. Click the album art or the title in the island or on Home to open the app that’s playing — Music, Spotify, or the exact browser tab for YouTube and other sites in Safari, Chrome, Brave, Edge and Vivaldi.
0.9.0 — October 25, 2026
- Test builds update themselves. Check for Updates… now downloads and installs the newest test build of Aura and relaunches it — no more downloading DMGs by hand.
0.8.3 — October 25, 2026
- Tidier Keep Awake island. With only Keep Awake on, hovering the island shows a small panel with “Keeping your Mac awake” and the time left, centered — instead of a big empty one.
0.8.2 — October 25, 2026
- Aura colors when nothing is playing. Switching to the Aura vibe with no music on no longer keeps the colors of the vibe you used before — you get Aura’s own colors until a cover takes over.
- “Nothing playing” sits in the middle of the island instead of at the bottom.
0.8.1 — October 25, 2026
- A calmer empty island. Hovering the island when nothing is playing now just shows “Nothing playing”, centered — no extra buttons.
0.8.0 — October 25, 2026
- The island stays put. When nothing is playing, the island no longer disappears: it rests as an empty notch (or a small pill on screens without one). Hover it to see “Nothing playing” and open your last music app in one click.
0.7.0 — October 25, 2026
- Send Feedback. Found a bug or have an idea? Choose Send Feedback… in the menu bar, the Help menu or About. It opens an email with your Aura and macOS versions filled in — you see everything before you send it.
0.6.3 — October 25, 2026
- Lid mode after an update. If you install a new Aura while the old one is still running, the menu now asks you to quit and reopen it, instead of lid mode silently not working. Aura also stops retrying when its helper doesn’t answer and tells you so.
0.6.2 — October 25, 2026
- Aura Pro licenses. Keys from the Aura store now activate in the app, on one Mac each. Manage or move your license in the customer portal.
0.6.1 — October 25, 2026
- Clearer video wallpapers. When your video is paused on battery or in Low Power Mode, the Wallpapers tab tells you why, with one click to keep it playing on battery.
0.6.0 — October 25, 2026
- Updates. Aura checks for new versions with Sparkle. Turn automatic checks on or off in Settings, or use Check for Updates… in the menu.
0.5.0 — October 25, 2026
- Aura Pro. Every feature is unlocked for 7 days. After that, the wallpaper that follows your music and all vibes need a one-time license for one Mac.
- Works offline. Once activated, Pro never needs the internet to keep working.
0.4.2 — October 24, 2026
- Lid-closed mode. Keep your Mac awake with the lid closed while Keep Awake is on — with battery and temperature safeguards.
- New main window. Home, Vibes, Wallpapers, Island and Awake in one place. The Dock icon shows only while the window is open.
- New look. App icon, menu bar glyph that lights up with Keep Awake, and the halo colors throughout.
0.1.0 — October 23, 2026
- First build. The island with what’s playing, the wallpaper that follows your music, and Keep Awake with a timer.
- Vibes. Five built-in vibes and your own, applied in one click.
- Welcome tour. Three screens from install to your first vibe.
